Customizations and Extensions
While Oracle provides a wide variety of configuration options to perform business operations based on industry best practices, different clients still tend to have requirements, big and small that aren’t addressed with the standard functionality.
Several clients also choose to use Oracle Application for only certain business functions requiring the system to integrate with external systems, both upstream and downstream.
Several aspects are considered before we design a customization
- Is the customization needed? Does it impact the business?
- Is it scalable?
- Is it supported by Oracle?
- What are the best practices?
- How have our other clients addressed this GAP?
- Did Oracle provide any configuration settings we can leverage to address this GAP?
- What are the best practices to perform this function?
This is where our team of functional and technical experts work together to come up with the best possible solution for customizations and extensions. They work with the business users to finalize the requirements, design, develop and test the customizations and finally deploy the changes in Production
Our technical experts have customized several RICE elements including
- Custom Forms
- Custom Reports
- Building Interfaces from Oracle to external Systems and vice versa
- Building bolt on applications that act as extensions to Oracle Applications
Extensions are pieces of functionality that do not exist in Oracle and is not something small that can be addressed by a small customization. Sometimes extensions are built in lieu of buying 3rd party products when it is more economical to build it and/or when it provides more flexibility to meet the client’s requirement. While our consultants make every effort to avoid extensions, the entire project team will work with the client when there is a need to build one. Our expert team of functional and technical resources accomplishes building of extensions after thoroughly vetting the requirements. Extensions are built to be as flexible as possible to address the eventuality of changes in the product and the business model.
